Excerpt: Presentation: "In all the discussion about the systems Learning Management (LMS), Open Educational Resources (OER), online courses wide open (massive open online courses, or MOOC) and benefits and challenges of online learning, the most critical issues are perhaps those that affect the way technology is changing the way we teach and, more importantly, how students learn. having failed to a better word to describe it, we call it the "pedagogy".
"It is clear that major changes in the way we teach students and post-secondary students are triggered by online learning and new technologies that increase flexibility and access in relation to education post.
As a first step in exploring what these educational changes and their implications for students, faculty, staff and educational institutions, we start with:
examine some key in learning and how they influence our understanding of pedagogy developments;
illustrate these developments by highlighting innovations developed within colleges and universities in Ontario, which are taken from the pockets series of innovation presented in the Portal online learning in Ontario for teachers and training, and providing links to several others;
ask some questions about the changes to teaching and learning.
But this is only the first step. Our goal is to use those questions about teaching and instructional design, learning students and technology choices to stimulate a dialogue with members of the teaching staff and training and those who work with them with regard to online learning, with opportunities to discuss online and face-to-face of emerging pedagogy.
We will use the ideas and feedback to shape a second paper to identify the new pedagogy. We will focus on how it affects not only teaching and learning but also on instructional design, support and faculty development, assessment of students, the place of teaching and learning, the roles of teachers and students, support services for students and institutional planning.
